Faith-Based Environment

Surrendered School of Dance is a Christian organization, and our classes are offered in a Christ-centered environment. As part of our discipleship-through-dance approach, students may experience elements such as prayer, age-appropriate discussions related to faith, sharing of Bible stories, and the use of worship music during class.

While our mission is rooted in our Christian faith, all students are welcome in our programs regardless of their personal beliefs. We value kindness, respect, and a supportive community for every dancer and family who participates with us.

Health and Safety Disclaimer

The art of dance is physical in nature. Please consult your physician or another qualified health care professional before starting any programs with our organization or any activity of a similar nature with other organizations to determine whether it is appropriate for your needs.

This is especially important if you or any family members have a history of high blood pressure or heart disease, or if you have ever experienced chest pain during exercise or within the past month while at rest. You should also consult a physician if you smoke, have high cholesterol, or have any bone or joint condition that could be affected by increased physical activity.

Please do not begin this program if your physician or health care provider advises against it.

If you experience faintness, dizziness, pain, or shortness of breath at any time while participating in a class, you should stop immediately.

Instruction, Corrections, and Physical Contact

Whenever possible, instructors at Surrendered School of Dance use a hands-off approach to teaching. However, dance is a physical discipline, and there are times when a movement or alignment correction is best facilitated through gentle touch.

To support a student’s learning, an instructor may occasionally guide a position or adjustment through brief, appropriate physical contact. This will always be done in a professional manner, and the intention of the correction will be clear to the student.

Parents and students who have questions about physical adjustments or wish to discuss alternatives are welcome to speak with our staff at any time.
