New Ballet Students

Welcome! We are grateful that you are considering Surrendered School of Dance for your student’s ballet training.

Our school offers ballet classes for children and teens from a student’s first dance class to more advanced pre-professional levels of ballet training. We also offer Teen/Adult Ballet for older beginners and adults who would like to learn ballet fundamentals in a welcoming class environment.

For new students, placement begins with age for our youngest levels:

  • Pre-Primary Ballet: ages 3–5
  • Primary Ballet: ages 5–7
  • Ballet Foundations: ages 8+ for new students with little to no prior ballet training

If your student is 8 or older and has previous ballet training, please contact us to schedule a free placement class. We want to ensure that your student is placed in the best level for them to grow. New students may be placed in Ballet Foundations, Intermediate A, Intermediate B, Intermediate C, or one of our Advanced levels depending on readiness for the level.

For new dancers ages 13 and older with little to no prior ballet training, we recommend enrolling in our Teen/Adult Ballet class. This class provides a welcoming place to learn ballet fundamentals, build strength and coordination, and grow in confidence before moving into a leveled class pathway.

Returning Ballet Students

For returning students in Pre-Primary Ballet, ages 3–5, and Primary Ballet, ages 5–7, families may enroll based on the student’s age.

For returning students in Ballet Foundations, ages 8+, class placement recommendations for the 2026–2027 school year will be posted in your Studio Pro account no later than Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Instructions for accessing your student’s recommendation will be emailed to families.

Progress reports and class placement level for next season will be mailed to Intermediate and Advanced Ballet classes during the first week of June.

A Note About Ballet Class Level Progression

Please remember that students do not automatically move up a level each year. In ballet training, it is normal and healthy for students to spend several years in the same level as they continue developing strength, technique, confidence, and consistency.

Progression to the next level happens when a student has demonstrated readiness and has had time to master the skills of their current level. Our goal is to place each student where they can grow well, be challenged appropriately, and continue building a strong foundation.
